Genealogy

Rearchers should be aware of Caswell County Genealogy, an online database that contains tens of thousands of individual entries. This is the starting place for all Caswell County genealogical research. Another version of this database also can be found on Ancestry.Com, which is restricted to those who subscribe to that service. There it is called the "Caswell County Family Tree." Note, however, that the Ancestry.Com version is stripped of the all-important notes, links, and many images. Serious researchers are encouraged to use the full database referenced above. Please note that when Ancestry.com acquired RootsWeb many family trees became unavailable or were reduced to a format that is not user-friendly. This includes the original Caswell County Family Tree that, because it is almost impossible to update, has been abandoned.
Some who have researched their Caswell County heritage have shared their findings on the internet. Set forth below are links to various websites and other surname-specific reference material. If you would like to add a link to your website or research material contact the Webmaster. Note that access to some of these websites may require you to join, which will be free and easy unless otherwise noted. Some are by invitation only (but you can request an invitation). If you have family information that you would like to share but need help, please contact the Webmaster. For those who have prepared family history memoranda or family trees but have not placed this information on a website, we created the Family Trees, Stories, and Research Memoranda section below. If you have materials suitable for this section please contact the Webmaster. If you need assistance with family research contact the Caswell County Historical Association: Genealogy Research

Katharine Kerr Kendall Publications

Katharine Kerr Kendall and her sister Mary Frances Kerr Donaldson had deep Caswell County (Yanceyville) roots and devoted untold hours to abstracting and indexing various Caswell County public records (such as deeds, marriage records, and wills). Set forth below is a list of these valuable resources. While out-of-print from time to time, most periodically are reprinted and also may be found through Internet used book vendors. Reference versions of many of these publications are available at the Richmond-Miles History Museum and the Gunn Memorial Public Library (both in Yanceyville, North Carolina).
